I get a SBHH on routes where it's been done previously. I've only had one success so far though.

There is a button that isn't supposed to be there and causes SBHH errors. I think it must be that one.

I believe there's more to this than you're letting on. What I did...

  • Created brand new route in the area I have SRTM data for
  • Clicked the import terrain button (19 x 19 patch)
  • Slight jump with the textures, but nothing else happened
  • No Terrain folder in the new directory
  • Clicking the distant terrain button causes an SBHH
!*don-know!*
Cheers!

All I can say is that I'm fairly sure it won't be there in the next TS build/update. I think it was part of the engine that RSC does not plan to implement; perhaps the button snuck by the QA folks when this build was heading out the door.

Too bad - the possibly to use distant terrain would have been a nice feature.

this appeared in the thread from Derek viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3420 but is under the "...not finalized" section:

Very distant terrain may also be generated using the distant terrain button, this generate very low res 4km x 4km patches from the height field data, this is saved to the file DistantPatches.bin.
Usage
To import terrain use the import terrain button up to 19 x 19km squares can be imported at once.

To generate distant terrain patches, import terrain for all required areas, then while in tile 0,0 use the generate distant terrain button to build distant terrain patches. Save (F2) after generation.
Performance Constraints
Distant patches have some overhead and should only be used as required.

Perhaps your one successfull attempt was because you were still on the 0,0 tile? !*don-know!*
