No Doppler Effect/ Help With Audacity

Unread postby ET44C4 » Sun Mar 12, 2017 9:27 am

I recently made a horn using Audacity and placed it on the Amtrak P42DC. The horn didn't have any doppler effect and I I went to look in Audacity for "mono" but couldn't find anything. If someone could help me export the audio with "mono", it would be much appreciated.

Did you split the stereo track and delete the bottom one? Then in the "drop down" select mono?

You convert a file from stereo to mono with Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono

However are you sure it's not already in Mono? Most TS horn sounds seem to be in mono to start with. They are 16 bit, rather than 32 bit for stereo. On the left side of the wave chart is the name of the file with text underneath giving the mono/stereo status, also a dropdown arrow - click on that and you will see further information about the file. If you have stereo, you will have two wave charts, one for each channel.

When you export with File > Export Audio, it will offer options for exporting - including (for regular Windows files that we use) WAV 16-bit and WAv 32-bit. Choose 16-bit for mono.

Thank you both for the replies. Once trying what BKRR605 told me, the horn worked with the doppler effect. I also did understand what ChrisOnline has informed me about. When exporting the file, it is always listed as the .WAV 16-bit.

Thank you both for helping me out!
