RW 2 Crossing Signal Issues

Unread postby ATrainADay » Tue Jul 05, 2011 1:23 pm

Hi folks,

I'm new to RW2 and this forum, so please forgive me if this has already been discussed somewhere else. Let me say, so far I am really enjoying RW2, it is by far the best train-sim on the market right now !*cheers*! Of course, it is not entirely free of quirks, and one really noticeable quirk I've found is that the crossing signals do not turn on and off in the prototypical manner, but rather seem to stay on all the time. Also, I installed the SMM Digital San Bernadino-Barstow Xing Replacements package from the SMM Digital website for the Cajon Pass route, and it replaced the default crossing signals with the nicer ones sure enough, but when I explored through the route to check out the crossings (in "free roam" camera mode, not on a train), the crossing flashers at all of the crossings were on and the gates were down on the gated crossings, with bells ringing and all. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and is there a fix for it?

Thanks!

Dont hold me to this, is it's been a LONG time since ive dealt with the crossing signals, but I think the SB&B replacement are non-interactive. They are always on, always in the down position with the thought that you are only going to see them if you are passing them while on the train. The SB&B's also use a Sound Region bell instead of an "onboard" bell.

That's okay, I think I may have figured a workaround. I went ahead and downloaded your "Level Crossing Route Developers Pack" and am going to try manually installing the crossings myself in the World Route Editor using the contents of that and see if that fixes the problem. Also, while on the subject of the World Route Editor, does anybody know if there's a way to "jump" to different locations within a route, similar to what was available in the MSTS Route Editor?

SWEEETT!!! *!greengrin!* I did a manual install of a crossing using the assets in your route developer's crossing kit, and the crossing signals worked to a charm! Thank you so much for creating these awesome crossings, I can't wait to have the whole route installed with them!

If you set up the SMM Xings manually, they'll work.

Okay, I've gotten all of the crossings on the SB-B line installed with the SMMDigital crossing signal assets. The only thing is that in the gameplay, at some crossings, the cars aren't stopping, even after I've placed the crossing signals correctly. Did I miss something? As I understood it, I have to place the "boxes" for the crossing detection on both tracks, right click, and then place the "boxes" for stopping traffic in the middle of the road on each side of the crossing. I did that, and yet the cars just keep on rolling through the crossing anyway even though the crossing signals are activated. !**conf**!

Nevermind, I think I figured out the problem. The "box" on one side of the road had its arrow pointing the wrong way (away from the track). I figured out how to get the arrow to point the right way using the shift key. !DUH!

I need to download these signals for a route but the site is no longer active :( Is it possible to get these anywhere else or does somebody have the zip file? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Download RCAP it has the old smm ones, and you can replace them manually. It's really easy, just search how to place smm crossings on youtube.

Please, when you have a problem, do not revive a 5 year old post, make a new one.
