Soldier summit problems

Unread postby GeorgeUK » Thu Jan 12, 2017 1:33 pm

I'm having problems with the DTG Soldier Summit route, as whenever I try to play a scenario it gives up and crashes after about 5 seconds of loading. All of the other routes I have work OK, so why is this one acting up? I have a GTX970 graphics card and I have tried reducing the scenery quality, but I can't get a result. This happens on both career and standard scenarios. Hell, even selecting the assets in asset editor causes the game to go kaput.

Maybe it got corrupted? Did you try a cache verify on Steam? The other day I was working on a route and all the trackrules disappeared and I could not lay any tracks. I did a cache verify and it found close to 3,000 file were corrupt. No clue what happened, but the verify fixed me up.

You don't have to do a cache verify.
Just find it in the Steam window and uncheck the Soldier Summit route so it will uninstall. Then recheck the box to reinstall it.
Soldier Summit has something "off" with it. It runs kinda rough, even on a high end machine.

Try turning off the dynamic clouds in the game settings.
Lower shadows down too.

Bob, are your TS files on a Samsung SSD?
I'm asking because I've had some mysterious file losses, since Samsung did a firmware update a few months ago to "fix" a file loss problem for Linux users when the SSDs were doing their TRIM command.
I'm starting to get suspicious that, our drives might be occasionally deleting Windows files when executing TRIM now, that the fix worked for Linux, but botched windows.

The other possibility is a Windows 10 or security suit fubar.

Yes just go to your TS Steam Library page end in the items window scroll down until you find Soldier Summit. Untick it and wait for it to say not installed then tick it to install it again.
