Repaints w/ Reflection?

Unread postby ET44C4 » Sat Dec 17, 2016 8:54 am

Every time I make a repaint for a locomotive, freight car, etc. it always has that distant terrain reflection effect on the whole locomotive/car. Is there anyway to remove this or is there any settings that need to be changed while repainting?

Make a alpha layer that's about 70-80% dark and it will dull the surface so it won't show a reflection. You'll have to mess around to get the effect you want.

Save your image as a bmp. Open DXTBmp. Open your bmp image. Import the alpha per the 'import alpha' you made and then save in the proper DXt format and you should be good to go.

Just so I'm clear here, I open the Alpha in Paint.net. Not sure if this is right but I went to levels and made the image darker. Then I saved the image as a bmp. I then imported the Alpha and saved. Is that what I need to do?

You're not clear to me about what you did so let's try this one more time. I get the made the alpha darker and saved it. Then you open your bmp of the object itself in DXTBmp. Then import the alpha that you just made as the alpha and then say save as a dds in whatever DXT3 or 5 or whatever. Import that back into your TgPcDx and save. If you need some pictures let me know and I'll take some screenies.
