Unsightly Slack Gaps

Unread postby Metro4050 » Sun Mar 13, 2016 12:55 pm

I've searched around but I never found any topics discussing this particular form of coupler slack. What's going on here and what do I need to do to remove it from the game?

Add more horsepower!!! !*roll-laugh*!

I am curious though as to how to keep this from happening in the game.

Is it only happening with certain rolling stock? I haven't seen this for some time. The easy fix is is switch stuff over to BriKit couplers however I thought most of the newer rolling stock didn't do this any more.

I got the Brtitkits and I'm enjoying the new hoses but the stretching still exists. Might need to hold off on the 89 car trains. !*not-ok*!

I get this all of the time with heavy trains. It doesn't seem to matter if the cars are Kuju, Greatnortherner, MaineLines, DTG. I'll look into that Britkit coupler.

If you know how to get into the coupler .bins

maximum distance 0.05
minimum distance 0.001
spring coefficient 0
damping 0 - 600 personal preference
target distance 0

if you mix up fixed and unfixed stock it won't do you much good.

Those settings stop creeping train and give the proper amount of slack with hard stops at each end like real knuckle couplers.
Ironically DTG almost got it right with Feather river this time. All the settings are correct but the distance settings.

Great Northerner's Type Es need lots of damping for some reason, otherwise those settings work fine on his too. Just keep the damping at something high like 1000.
New build. i7-7700k, MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Mobo, Hyper 212 Evo, Corsair DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, Klipsch Pro Mediea 2.1 Speakers, Samsung 850 Evo SSD, HAF XM Case, Asus Strix GTX 1070 and Cooler Master Storm XT Keyboard.
Slick with Pretty Rainbow Colors.
