UP Turbine won't move.

Unread postby ValleyBoy » Fri Mar 04, 2016 10:10 am

I'm having a curious problem with the UP Turbine. The turbine starts and reaches the correct idle speed, all brakes release, all controls in the correct position but when the throttle is opened the loco does not move. This happens in all the Sherman Hill scenarios involving the UP Turbine. Even without the turbine running the loco is supposed to move at yard speed with the diesel engine; the sound and RPM of the diesel spool up when the throttle is increased but the loco still won't budge. I've checked out the scenario/edit function with RWTools and all appears normal. No other locos exhibit this behavior.
Can anyone give me a clue as to what is wrong and how to fix this problem?

Are you sure the brakes are fully released? Did you wait for the brake pipe pressure to reach 90psi and then a bit longer for the brakes to release all the way to the rear of the train?

I did wait quite a long time. The non-movement occurs even when the scenario starts with a light loco where time for brake release is not a consideration.

Can you post a screenshot of the cab interior, as it is as soon as the scenario starts? In fact, one showing the F4 HUD and then another with the F5. That might help in seeing what's up.

mrennie:
Thanks to your question about screen shots I've solved my problem.
In looking at the F5 information I noticed that the reverser number was 0% even though the F4 image showed the reverser handle at full forward. I use a RailDriver control console and for some reason the actual reverser number did not mirror the reverser handle position. When I used the keyboard to change the reverser number to 100% the loco moved normally in response to increased throttle.
Thanks again for nudging me toward a solution to my problem.

Glad it helped! I should have guessed it was the RailDriver - I don't have one myself but I've heard that it's incompatible with the scripting of the mechanical interlocking between the reverser, throttle and dynamic brake handles.
