Donner Pass - Track Missing

Unread postby FHRob » Tue Oct 06, 2015 5:24 pm

There's a section of track missing in the area of Cascade bridge. Each time the train gets there, it flies thru the air.

I have a backup of Donner Pass on another drive, which works. !!*ok*!!

What files/folders do I need to copy from the working route to replace the missing track? !*don-know!*

As an aside, when I try installing the Donner Pass upgrade - which worked in TS 2015 - I lose all the green scenario checkmarks. This program will never cease to amaze and annoy me. !*not-ok*!

Thanks,

Robert :D

The track files are in the \Content\Routes\ folder. Use "NameMyRoute.exe" in the main folder to locate Donner Pass (for me it's "00000032-0000-0000-0000-000000000000"), and then copy the files under \Networks\Track Tiles\ to your directory.

Or... just to be safe, copy the whole "00000032-0000-0000-0000-000000000000" folder. !!*ok*!!

It's the Tracks.bin file in the Networks folder. That will restore your track.
I wonder why it gets rid of the checkmarks?
Mine are all here.
Did my update have the track error in it?
There is no missing track at my end.

Is this upgrade applied to the existing Donner Pass route, or does it create a new route?

It's applied to the existing route, allowing a person to use existing and Workshop scenarios. It uses a RWP file. I wonder if that (the checkmarks missing) is because of the included RouteProperties.xml ?

Help me understand here. You had the original Donner and then tried to install Eric's update after you got 2016 and that's when the problem occurred? I had Eric's update installed before 2016 and everything works fine here after the update to 2016.

I don't know the exact algorithm that TS2016 follows when it starts and rebuilds the scenario database, but I know it has to do with the date a scenario was modified vs the date you ran it. So this is normal behavior if you got the tick marks before you installed the update. When this happens, you will probably find related messages in Logmate.

Anyway if you have a backup of the game, you can use my tool for fixing the problem easily.

OK, here's the scoop on this, but don't blame me if it doesn't make sense. !*roll-laugh*!

First, I'm sure the problem isn't Eric's update, but another DTG mystery.

As of today, the route has the following attributes:

I'm the original owner of Donner Pass, dating back to when it was first released. At one point, certain scenarios stopped working because there was an update - not sure when - that changed the track geometry.

Route Number = 32. Within folder 32, I only have Route information & Scenarios folders, Main content.ap & route properties.xml.

I know at one point, I opened the .ap file using RW Tools, so I'm not sure why the exploded folders aren't present. !*don-know!* Did DTG update Donner Pass recently?

I haven't done a nasty verification of game cache in a zillion years, because I don't need all my modifications erased. !!spank!! !*not-ok*!

As soon as Eric's Donner pass update is added, poof all the checkmarks go down the tubes. !*not-ok*! !*not-ok*! Luckily, there's a posting on this forum about how to retrieve the checkmarks, by using a backup SDBCache.Bin file. **!!bow!!**

The checkmarks return when I delete the update files, and substitute the old SDBCache.bin file. *!!thnx!!*

I tried using the route properties.xml file from the working backup, but this didn't help the checkmark situation.

Rob, did you try replacing the cache but leaving my update in place?

I just checked the .RWP file for my Donner Upgrade and there isn't a SDBcache.bin folder in there. !*don-know!*

Buzz, did you actually install the "phase 1" RWP file from the library, or are you still using the last beta version?

Hi Eric:

Are you talking about the SDBCache.bin file here, or just clearing cache in tools?

I tried clearing cache and not clearing cache before looking for the checkmarks. In both cases, they were gone. I'm sure I tried all the variations here, but the checkmarks still go missing. **!!bang!!**

No I mean the SBDCache.bin. Did you try replacing that, but leaving my mods in place?

Guys, by replacing the whole SDBCache.bin with a backup, you lose all checkmarks for all scenarios completed after the backup. For all scenarios in all routes.
Bad idea.

You should use my tool, which updates your current SDBCache.bin with any lost checkmark that it finds in your backup.

Yes, I did indeed try what you mention, but still the same problem.
