I thought I would share some photos of another one of my favorite Queensland steam locos from the past and that is the beautiful A10 #6.

The very first locos used on Queensland Railways ( QR ) were 4 small 2-4-0 “A” Class steam locos that were built by the Avonside Engine Co, Bristol, England in 1864. These later became the A10 Class, the 10 being the cylinder size of 10 inches.
In 1865 the following year, 4 more were built by Neilson & Co Ltd in Glasgow, Scotland and classified as the “B” Class. No 6 was one of these 4 which were different from the first 4 in that the wheel configuration was changed to 0-4-2 with the trailing axle being of the Adams radial type.
These “B” Class locos were later reclassified as the A10 Class in approx 1890. No 6 entered service with Queensland Railways on the 20th August 1866.

This beautiful little loco still runs main line excursions to this very day…… I am planning to go for a run in her sometime at the end of this year , hopefully.

Here is a Youtube link I found showing No 6 going for a run in 2008. Select 480p or higher to get better quality of the footage.
732 running with her and shown below is a PB15 Class ( 4-6-0 ) that were mainly used for Passenger Services and still is active also.
As seen in the video footage...everybody wants to ride in the cab... !*YAAA*!

!*cheers*!

Now that would be a train ride I would thoroughly enjoy there Chris.....especially sitting in the rear wooden gondola.
Good quality video to boot, nice scenery as well.... !!*ok*!!
The K-28 was doing it easy but appeared to be water bound in places.
Thanks!

There were actually 2 different consists in that video, one with the "Presidential" car at the end and one with a caboose at the end. I have been on the one without the caboose. $81 USD gets you coach class, $159 gets you First Class and it's $189 for the Presidential car. Yes, you do get a sandwich, some chips and a soda with that. !*brav*! But, I hope you like Bologna. !*roll-laugh*!

Nah, nothing exotic, just beef bologna. With a leaf of lettuce, a tomato slice, on Weber's white bread. No cheese. !**duh*!! And Frito's corn chips. !*salute*!

This was our early prototype of the TILT Train....the engineer laid the loco into a curve and set the tilt valve..when the glass was upright he had the right amount of tilt for the speed... !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*!
Jokin' there Bill, honestly...I cannot give you the true and exact reason but I suspect because of the piping to the boiler tank and being of a small boiler they were set at an angle because of where the pipes came out. As they are never completely full I guess it works.
I will find out for you the real reason.
