Locomotive Guessing Game

Unread postby Antwerp » Sun Sep 08, 2013 8:15 pm

Rules are simple:

1. 6 guesses per question (Hint will be given if 3 guesses remain)

2. Guess has to be of USA/CA to be valid. (No offense, I know little of anything but.)

3. Anyone can ask a question, so long as the previous question has been answered, The person who guesses correctly get's to ask the next question.

4. No using the internet to get the answer!

5. No double answer responses!

6. Have fun. !*cheers*!

NOTE: Passenger Trains have been added to the game!!!

Round 1:

This locomotive has only one survivor today. I'll just leave it at that for now.

Man that was quick.

Nate, No

Eric, No

JW, No

THE correct answer is the 4-8-4 Northern. It had many names & was built by a variety of locomotive builders: Lima, ALCo, & Baldwin all built them for the US railroads.

Names: Big Apple, Confederation, Dixie, Golden State, Greenbrier, Niagara, Pocono, Potomac, Western, and Wyoming.

I'm changing the rules to 6 guesses from now on to give more chances! !!*ok*!!

Round 3:

I am a Diesel that was made by a company that went out of business when World War II delayed it's start in the dieselization process.

Though I don't appreciate a double answer I will give it to you.

The correct answer is the RF-16 (Shark)

Round 4:

The Locomotive I'm thinking of was a Road Switcher build in the late 1980's/Early 1990's. The big Class 1's of that era bought this engine type & used them in Heavy Mainline Service.

Bonus Question: One Shortline bought a few from a larger Class 1, then was refused to sell them back after how beat-up they were. Which RR is it? (Can answer both if you'd like)

Dash 9?

As a side note: I had given multiple answers, although it was related to multiple names for the same class of loco. 2-8-2
