What does "NKP" stand for in Nickel Plate Road?
Posted: Tue May 07, 2013 2:51 pmDoes anyone know why the Nickel Plate Road initials is NKP instead of NPR? What does the "K" stand for. I could never figure that out.

Posted: Tue May 07, 2013 10:37 pmI heard the story that the Railway Barons paid so much money taking over the NY&CL route that a railroad news reporter wrote that it must have been "nickel plated" to cost so much. In case you didn't know, back in the day "nickel plating" steel things made them appear shiny silver in color and expensive looking as chrome plating does today.
