I was reading on another forum, playing around and I saw BNSF 8197 retired, APRIL 1st, 2013! It is unknown why, or what BNSF wants to do with it, but it was last seen in Minneapolis, MN.
Sad to see this unit go, as I have always wanted to see it, *!sad!*

They could possibly be putting it into long term storage or maybe even sending it to EMD for an overhaul, hopefully keeping its unique paint scheme.

Sad to see that the Great Pumpkin might be done.

Is there any possibility that eyein12's SD60 could be skinned with the unique paint job?

Ian's isn't the same generation at all. 8197 is a second phase SD60M. I'll tell you guys of her disposition as soon as I find out though.

LOL yeah I don't think they're going to use it for special trains when it has bad traction motors.

Minnesota Transportation Museum is a hop and a skip away from where she's been sitting in Northtown.

I would actually vote for BNSF to send it into EMD for an internal overhaul and then just wash the outside and touch up the paint and release her back to her home rails. !!*ok*!!

it was created before emissions standards actually came in to place.
