Juice Train

Does anyone know about the Tropicana Juice Train to Los Angeles? I know that CSX takes it from Florida to Cincinnati. Who take charge of it there the BNSF or the UP? Finally, how many cold cars make up the consist to LA?

BNSF and UP don't have tracks in Cincinnati, the closest they get us Chicago. IORY, CIND, CSX, and NS have tracks in Cincy.

I have a related question. Do any of you know in what form the actual juice is stored in onboard? Is it already prepacked in consumer cartons or is it in huge drums of juice? I say the latter because I know it goes to another factory in New Jersey before it's distributed.

The contract is with CSX all the way but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll only see CSX hauling it. The juice is pre-packaged and shipped by the pallet. They own their own reefers and yard too, CSX are just contracted to haul. I've got a doco on it on DVD circa early 2000's so things may have changed since.

So would CSX pay UP or BNSF to get it to the other side of the country? I think UP also has a train out of the North West that travels to the Selkirk, NY or Syracuse, NY. Is this train also Tropicana?

CSX hauls the Juice Train exclusively on their own tracks the whole way. The UP train is Potatoes from idaho.

This is the train I'm talking about. It's a refrigerated train, but I couldn't remember whether or not it was Tropicana. Clearly it's not.

The train in that clip is the produce express that runs from Washington through Idaho on the way to the northeast.

Gets on the CSX at Chicago and runs east as Q090 to Schenectady, NY and then west back to UP as Q091. I see it in Deshler from time to time, always has UP power.

Jersey City, NJ.

Favorite GE commercial, BTW. I've never seen this one on tv though.

I think there's a scenario with the juice train from Florida for the NERW PA route.
