Just seen on MSN news that a Amtrak train has derailed near Hanford California. It seems that the Railroads in the US are having a bad year as there have been afew derailments in the news this year.
*Update* Abit more on this story

Isn't this the second time this year a semi truck has hit a train? (And that pic of the semi is not doubles hauling cotton)

Listening to the video, the truck was carrying cotton trash. That and another semi driver drove into a freight train about an hour later and 17 miles south of this accident

These types of accidents leave me scratching my head. Pulling out in front of a train is plenty stupid, but you have to be mighty distracted to not notice a train thundering by in your path...

UP 844's tender had a small derail on Saturday Sept 29 in Sacramento, but nothing major. The problem was quickly corrected by the UP Steam Crew.
