Only 50 years before someone dug it up again! I think that still has the helicopter speed record. The Eurocopter version appears to be 50% engine!
That was taken in southwest France I think - the TGV line is the TGV Atlantiqué, so that is probably the end of the Pyrennees mountains.

Great video! The first consist is a TGV POS, then a mix a of TGV Réseau and TGV Duplex throughout the rest of the video. I have quite a bit of interest in French Railways. And Kali, I do believe this is LGV Est, as LGV Atlantique doesn't run POS or Duplex trains, but LGV Est does.
They exist everywhere. You may not see them, but they're there. Awww yeeeaaaahhhh, 20% Cooler! /)

I think you're right. So that's entirely the other end of France then!
My TGV ID guide goes:
* Is it a Eurostar? - no
* Is it a duplex? - no
* what colour is it? - final id!
Which fails for Atlantiqué/Est, because they're the same colour...
I could bore you to death about the signalling, though.

The TGV Line is LGV Méditérranée, because the landscape is very typical of southern France, the south Rhone valley precisely.
It's neither LGV Atlantique because on this line the landscape is very flat and more green than here, nor LGV Est for same reasons.

I think that compound helicopter speed record has now been eclipsed by a Sikorsky prototype (X2!). The speed record for a conventional helicopter is still held by a Westland Lynx, equipped with a semi rigid rotor head and BERP tip blades. I used to have some good in cabin/chase aircraft clips of helicopter test flights, but I think I lost them years ago.

Somewhere there is a video of Sikorski developing something similiar, infact they set a new speed record with their aircraft.
Lockheed in the early 70's was in development of a high speed attack aircraft utilizing a pusher propeller.
