I was in the last car of a southbound Carolinian (79 I think) that had to pull the same thing for a freight to pass somewhere near the VA/NC border. It was great, the conductor came back to the rear of the train and sat there talking to passengers while he waited for the CSX to show itself! :D

Known as a saw by. I have seen two freights that are too long for a siding pass in what is called a double saw by. That is interesting to see, although you do not see it as much now days with CTC and TWC.
