Just something I saw

Went to just go get some coffee and heard the sound of a train horn as I was approaching a crossing.. No crossing lights.. I looked over and saw a CSX GP-38 running long nose forward. (cool!) So I obviously stopped, even though he wasn't moving either. Crewman go out and flagged the crossing.

Interestingly enough the light facing the single boxcar it was pulling was still on and shining on the boxcar, so it does happen. So Railworks engines doing it isn't completely unprototypical. :)

exactly, on the CN mainline, most boxcars i seen going by were super shiny with new paint, only a few monnths old. for some reason they don't get dirty as fast up here as they do down there?

And the non-flashing ditch lights isn't unprototypical either, I saw just last week a CSX GP38-2 coming as a light power move, it's an Ex CR unit in YN2 btw, but anyways, the ditchlights didn't flash when the horn was sounded, they just stayed solid, which I think is why it's restricted to the slow Apex line because it can't go through crossings fast due to CSX rules for flashing ditch lights.

I have noticed that on the CP tracks next to my friends house, some yard trains and light engines do have lights both ways.
Here is a video of two light CP GP9u's I took with front and rear facing lights on. Like I said, it's like this on some yard trains too.
