Epic. Remember that the person who drove the car is still out there driving. Holy smoke........

With the ever increasing multitude of morons in the world today, I bet the train gets blamed and they try to sue the city. *!rolleyes!*

That is exactly why railroads have installed in cab cameras like police departments have. They record sound as well. I have yet to ever see a train take off down the street and run down an automobile. People also put automobiles, motorcycles, and anything else they can think of on the track. They let the railroad hit it and try to report it as stolen to collect insurance money. I have personally seen a motorcycle done that way. Never mind the two people in the cab trying to do their job. Insane.

I used to live at ST. Charles and Marengo in 70's. There's been many cases of people driving their cars
into the street cars. There's also no such thing as a yellow traffic light down there.

I remember reading a poll one time. Everybody rated their driving skills as above-average. Never mind that statistically that doesn't make any sense. And as I type this someone somewhere is driving their SUV through the front doors of a 7-Eleven.

There is an article - sort of.

It doesn't really say much and no comment on what caused the dummy to run in front of a kiddie train. My guess is texting though. !!spank!!

A few years ago I was on a tourist train in Bonsal, NC (New hill) On the New Hope Valley Railroad, when a car hit the side of the train as it crawled through a crossing at 3 mph into the platform. This was the 3rd car of the train that was hit.... *!rolleyes!*

Off topic sort-of but would it be this car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enkh9A5jdUI (this still ranks No. 1 for me).

Yes sir, I was riding in the caboose ahead, behind the locomotive. I heard the conductor yell "woah, woah stop the train!!!" as the engineer grabbed the brake. I have pictures taken right after the collision when my dad and I jumped off the caboose. (taken with my crappy camera at the time):

In the last pic you can see where the car hit the side and the train kept going a few feet. I like the 2nd pic myself, because it shows the mood of despiration felt by the volunteers. Sorry for the bit of offtopic, just thought I'd bring up this incident since it is somewhat a related topic.

Did you ever find out why the driver thought it was a good idea to plow into the side of a train?
