Reverser position when idling?

Some of the diesel locos in TS have a label saying that the reverser should be centred when idling (to save fuel because it drops the idle rpm) and some of them even have enhancements where this is modelled.
My question is when the train is moving and I've reduced the throttle to idle, should I then centre the reverser if I know that I'm going to be coasting for some time and need neither dynamics nor throttle application?
My gut feeling says that this should only be used when stationary.
