On Monday, GE also said it closed its deal with Wabtec, which will take over GE’s century old locomotive manufacturing business. In the deal, GE received $2.9 billion in cash and a 24.9% stake in the combined company. GE shareholders received one share of Wabtec for every 186 GE shares held.

Wabtec shares rose 7% to $78.60 on Monday.

I'm curious as to what the merger could bring. Wabtec has been in the railroad technology business for some time now. I'm interested as to how some Wabtec technologies would/could be implemented into the current GE locomotives.

On the other hand, GE Transportation repainted one of the ET44AC demo units to a neat looking Wabtec demo scheme. :D
