Stop the train wraps

Grab a rock, have a seat, and talk about the real world of trains.

Stop the train wraps

My biggest railroading pet peeve right behind stupid railfans who trespass for crappy photos. Train wraps. How much money does this crap actually bring in? It's awful and I cringe every time I see these mobile billboards. I know the economy is bad, but jesus these things are just terrible. I've never, EVER seen a good one.

You should see the one the LIRR has. They are maybe 2-3 feet high, impossible to read across the whole car. And to complete it they are placed in such a way that when the train is in the station it is below the high level platforms or at foot level. !*roll-laugh*!
EDIT:
Here is a picture off the MTA site. Imagine trying to read it when it blows past at 60mph or in a station when it's at foot level!

They could have that stuff on the Blue Line and Green Line out here, but I'm not close to either one. BUT, they "wrap" every bus, airport shuttle, some taxi's, and of course the delivery trucks. Hey, advertising is really big business.

Agreed, horrible.

Many of the more "colourful" passenger colour schemes we see over in the UK nowadays are applied with these wraps. I don't like many of them either, but at least we haven't yet seen too many examples of this style of advertising.

At my sign company, we do quite alot of full vehicle wraps. Mostly trailers and box trucks.
Thats me tightening down a rivet, and a job leaving my shop. Your going to see alot more of this type
of advertising, as the public wants it and you can remove the graphics if needed without problems.
Next month were going to wrap 6 city buses.
I myself prefer to see trains left alone.
Hard to believe that I once hand lettered all my truck jobs. :D
