Railroading is a family affair

Unread postby CArailroader » Mon May 01, 2017 10:32 am

This past Saturday was the first time that my Dad, myself, and now my younger brother were all working on the line of the Sacramento Southern Railroad. My brother and I were out with MoW pulling ties and my dad was pn the train as a brakeman. I was the first to join the railroad, starting in Feb 2012. I dragged my dad into it that summer, and my brother started as of the end of March of this year.

CArailroader,

I'm always alittle envious of families that share a common interest or career path. Its nice to have anything in common with family members, good dinner table conversation. I just feel bad for your wives and your pooor mother. *!greengrin!*
By the way, you can tell who does the most work around there based on who's vest is the dirtiest. *!!wink!!*

Here is one of my son and I at the Illinois Railway Museum for Union Pacfic's family day acouple years ago. He is now ALOT bigger and I'm alittle rounder and alot less fuzzy. *!greengrin!*

Thanks for sharing, I hope you gents get to enjoy more days like that now that spring is here.

Thanks Jerry! Its funny you mentioned the dirty vest. The following day I was brakeman so instead of washing my clothes and get them dirty again I just wore the jeans and vest a second day. I got a talkin' to by the DSLE... But I digress. Its a fun job. And Im glad I don't do this for a living. I get to choose when and with what Dept I work with on any given day and if I get exhausted from working too many days in a row, I just take some time off.

Cheers!
