I almost couldn't believe this at first.
I've been to Jack London Square and the crews blow the horn all the way through.

Sounds like this story is being blown out of proportion.
Most people don't recover after being hit by a train. we'll see.

Eric, I felt the same way. Those DO make themselves known. Whatever is going to come out of this, it's not going to be pretty.

It seems they didn't wait long enough for a freight train to finish passing in the opposite direction, before crossing. That's why they didn't see the Amtrak train coming.
Still, there are signs and crosswalks to protect you, if you don't jaywalk there.
As far as surviving, they were practically next door to one of the best trauma centers on the west coast. That had to have helped the one with the internal injuries.
