Why the paint + the body = pure ew
The horn is cool sounding though! Making a horn of in for the sim soon. Sounds like a K5LA and RS3L hybrid.

I don't think BNSF has 'acquired' them per say, they have just been testing them between Northtown and Superior the last few weeks. I believe they plan on testing them over the Hi-Line later on. Also worth noting these are SD70ACeT4-P4, since they only have 4 traction motors.

Then why is it in BNSF paint? Are the EMD logos temporary?

The same reason the others are in UP paint. If the trials are sucessful all they'd have to do is pull the EMD decals and put BNSF ones on and renumber to roster.

They're listed as EMDX in our system. Not sure if they are P4s or not, I saw them Friday at Northtown, but was busy grabbing paperwork for the 261 to actually look over them. Though from 20 feet away they hardly make a sound at idle.

Only time will tell if you step into the cab and drive one of them in the future.

But the explanation makes sense, it being easy re-number if tests are sucessful.

When EMD sells the units to railroads, BNSF said they would buy those units so EMD painted them in BNSF paint. Its in trains magazine *!greengrin!*

Almost sounds like a Hancock air whistle from a distance.

First of all... the horn blowing on that was annoyingly obnoxious. You can't really hear the engines. I can't find any videos of the engine under a heavy load yet. They are usually filmed basically flatland coasting with barely any engine sound.

They seem to have that ever so slightly GE skipfire-ish bottle sound in this video. At least with my headphones on. Very subtle. They barely make a sound...

I wanna hear these things climbing a grade or something. So frustrating! **!!bang!!**
