Forgive my absence, but for the past few months, my step dad had cancer. Fortunately, it was caught in time. And he is now cancer free

Honestly though, for the longest time, I thought that I would lose another family member. But my god, a major weight has been lifted off my shoulders

My step dad is now home, and has been home for about 2 weeks now. But, he's not out of the woods yet. He's already had to go back to the ER once. Other than that, his appetite has come back. And in another 6 months, should hopefully be in as good of shape before surgery. And in further news, The biopsy on his lymph nodes has come back clean.

So, I told my step dad about this community, and he had a few words to share with y'all
and I quote

"I never knew people could really care so much. the people that I have met are very caring. But hearing that the train simulator community has also been so supportive is nothing short of miraculous. And I thank you all for your thoughts and prayers"

And I want to personally thank you all for your thoughts as well

some slight progress. He's feeling better, and his appetite is coming back slowly too. Hopefully his attitude swings back into the green. He's been in a rather sour mood as of late.

Good to hear he`s feeling better. Mood swings will be with you step dad for a long time ( talking from experience / family ). Good luck and keep reminding your step dad how lucky he is to still be around ( we lost one ). Life is sooooo precious!

Some more good news. For the last few weeks he's been gaining weight. In the past month he's gained 4 pounds. His surgery sites are healed and knitting quite well. And just a few days ago, switched from drinking boost for lunch to now eating a sandwich. Within a month, he should not only have his appetite back, but also gaining weight to where his weight should be.
