It's not much, but at least they're doing something for their heritage!

Don't get me wrong here, CSX is my home road and favorite railroad. But I have to say, that is just pathetic.

Still though, BNSF, the ball is now squarely in your court.

That I agree. Any CSX Heritage small logo on any unit is not a true heritage unit like NS and UP. CSX is my Home Road too but Chessie System is my Favorite railroad. Not trying to bash CSX just trying to express opinions.

I doubt CSXT is doing this to "honor" their heritage. They are likely just using the logos so they can retain the rights to them, similar to BNSF and their hopper cars.

I was told they only did this to keep the rights to this logo. They didn't do it for the heritage.

That's what NS and UP are doing, just not advertising it as such.

I doubt this. Why would you spend many thousands of dollars per locomotive to keep a logo or trademark of a defunct company in UP and NS case?

So they can hold the copyright on the logo. Otherwise they would loose the copyrights on the fallen flags.

What value do they hold? To keep people from selling mugs with the logo on it?

Or start a railroad using a fallen name. 'Suppose someone started a new railroad and called it The Great Northern.

Not really true for a copyright. You do not have to use it and defend it or loose it with a copyright, but with a Trademark you do. Guess which one they have?
