I often hear high wind warnings on RailroadRadio.net, on the UP Mojave and BSNF Cajon subs which I listen to while playing Railworks.

Didn't know it could be that windy in the high desert. But perhaps it is the mountains, buffetting the winds and channelling them into the valleys where the trains run?

Those wind generators are put on those slopes for a reason.
