Did that unit REALLY need the NS reporting marks? Haha it already says Norfolk Southern..

Haven't updated in a bit. But here's the Reading unit. So sweet.

Indeed! I don't live anywhere near NS tracks, but occasionally one does see NS power out west, so I'm holding out hope... !*salute*!

You can now tell that NS is back under the old Southern Railway management. I will have to say that my favorites are the S&A, C of G, and Southern. Can't wait to see the TAG. The Interstate is a nice one as well. About 20 years ago we had a train master for this district that came from the Interstate. He was also a closet rail fan. A little footnote. The Interstate RS3's all came with DB and where the only one's on the Southern that had DB. No other ALCO did. NS has done it right compared to the UP. If you look at the Southern Railway unit, not only is the check code letter by the road number there, it is correct!

NS if going for 100% accuracy with these units. The Reading Unit pictured above has the Reading's system of ID (kind of like the SOU's). Look under the 'Reading Lines' diamond...

looks like RCO RSE-14-4300HP.

Even the NKP unit went back into the paint booth to get the number font / size and locations of reporting marks correct.

Wick Moorman the current CEO of NS is an admitted railfan (he told TRAINS Mag). And a Southern Railway fan at that. Reason for the OCS F units looking like Southern Crescent units and #4501; once complete; to be the star of the NS steam program.

Anyhoo, the next heritage unit will be the Virginian, which should look sweet in Yellow and Blue.

Ditto on the 100% accuracy. UP blew it totally in my opinion. With Moorman as the CEO it is almost like Southern in the James Bistline days. With the N&W / Southern merger in 1982 most of the management was N&W. They did all they could to remove the Southern Railway image. And did. In the end they totally ruined the NS steam program. On purpose I have always thought. Worked a lot with the NS steam program over the years. It has taken 40 years, but it looks like turn about is fair play. Huge Southern fan here. I love the Southern Crescent locomotive, but I will have to say that as of now the S&A unit is my favorite. Brings back a lot of memories of the tuxedo black. All the way back to the late '60's for me.

Yea. I saw that too. Here's a pic of that. I guess it was font and numbering change. Looks like she could use a bath. :D

Really am interested to see how the TAG comes out. Although I am not particularly an NS fan ( although I live smack in the middle of it ) they are really notching it up with these units.
