Grab a rock, have a seat, and talk about the real world of trains.

I saw the sister unit of #2571 on the Horseshoe Curve railcam today, #2572. Those SD70s are becoming rare.

Yes they are, unfortunately. I'm glad I decided to wait around for it to come through. Just about missed it though... I thought I would try another spot a couple miles west. As soon as I turned down the road that paralleled the tracks, I saw the headlights coming down on me pretty fast. I whipped around and flew back to my original spot with not much time to spare. Just about had a severe case of railfan luck... !*roll-laugh*!

I was out chasing the Chesapeake and Albermarle on Friday for a good part of the day between Chesapeake, VA and Moyock, NC. There are some really nice spots to chase it to, especially out in those open fields.

The hoppers were possibly hauling fertilizer to Elisabeth City, NC.

I wouldn't have thought that Potash Corp. would be in the fertilizer biz haha. I see they had a nice load of stone too.

Next time I will have to chase it down to Elizabeth City and catch them switching out some of the industries down there. That stone must have been heading to Vulcan.

That GP38-2 is a beautiful livery.
It would be a nice repaint and Searchlight Simulations conversion.
From a couple videos I found, the second unit is a GP7u and the third unit is a GP9.

I have certainly had thoughts about doing a C&A repaint for the GP38-2. Wish we had some low nose geeps for the sim, like the GP7u.

Yeah I think the stone is for sure Vulcan in Elizabeth City, the potash hoppers look like they go to a place called Parkway AG supply.
