IS CONRAIL GONE FOREVER?????

Grab a rock, have a seat, and talk about the real world of trains.

Well actually I think there are still maybe two Dash 8-40CS still in CR paint on Norfolk Southerns roster. Whether they are in storage or still in mainline use is beyond me, but I think they are still out there somewhere.

They are dead, being rebuilt with a crescent cab.

Baloney, I saw 2465 the other day.

I know CN and they wouldn't go through the effort to put a new cab on a loco that already has the wide cab on it.

Shoot I quoted the wrong thing, I meant to quote imphantum, NS 8305 and 8312 are dead, being rebuilt with a Crescent Cab(SD60E type cab). I honestly don't think NS 8312 has started rebuild(yet) and think it is used as a shoving platform in Roanoke(IIRC). But this is NS 8305:

Also FWIW, Blue devils are LMSX not CR, totally different things.

Conrail lives on in spirit on the CSX that's for sure and have even received upgrades to continue service for another decade. I see trains daily with a C40-8W leading and those red mars lenses staring at me from the nose however they've all since been repainted into either YN2 or YN3 paint.

Where I live, Conrail still operates, just not in Conrail Paint. CR shared operations have trackage all over my area and there's even a crossing that has a Conrail sticker and logo on it. It's still technically Conrail. *!!wink!!*

There's still two CR GE's left on NS. I think they're in storage though.

No, LMS C40-8W's were built specifically for LMS. LMS was a leasing program between CN-GE-CR hence why CN got their blue devils. They just looked like a CR dash 8. CN had a say in the specs. If they were from CR don't you think CN wouldn't have a say in the specs? :)
