Techy People Eh?

I'll balance that out. 10 years Army Infantry and 3 years Union Pacific Conductor. Certainly don't need to be the brightest bulb in the chandelier to do those jobs. !**duh*!!
That said you guys are a very talented, creative, and industrious group, even outside of RWA.

Happy Holidays!

10 years in the Army Infantry, I'd say that was a pretty bright bulb me being a Marine Heavy Equipment Mechanic back in my day. Shore Party, first ones in last ones out.

I'm a utility line locator and maintenance mechanic for a local water and sanitation authority.

Hate the locating part, but the maintenance part is usually pretty good. Not a big fan of sewage repairs though, usually stinks lol. Been doing it almost 6 years now. Still a LOT to learn which I like.

I guess I fall under the techy category too,
I'm a Diesel Fuel Injection Engineer.
I basically overhaul fuel injection equipment and set up engines on everything from small generators to ships.
I've even managed to work on a couple of small industrial shunters.
Frontrunner in the file library now!

That reminds me of one of my favorite Honeymooners episodes, first ten sec is key. Not to detract from your job, it's just funny.

We get bus drivers come in acting like they are the sh#t and we are nothing because "they" wear uniforms. Ask one of them to parallel park the thing or just back it up 200 feet down an aisle of buses and they can't. Just like my wife, all forward but ask her to back up forget it. I'm talking about the car otherwise she is happy to back it up. LOL

I guess I shouldn't complain about idiots, it keeps me in a job. !*roll-laugh*!

I got the Honeymooners DVD set. Loved that show. Almost as good as Married with Children. I got them too.

Howdy!

"I'd say that was a pretty bright bulb." That is the nicest thing a Marine has ever said to me! :D I was fortunate enough to work with a few Marines in my time (some were from the Red to Green program) and they were always fantastic soldiers. One was Shore party like yourself and he was one bad mama jama! I'm sure the same goes for you.
I appreciate your service Sir! !*salute*!

NStrains, I used to work in sanitation myself. Locating was never too hard as we used wireless transponders, and a receiver above ground to pin point joints and breaks and whatnot. I usually went home clean on those days. I hated servicing lift stations and flushing mains. Never went back to the plant clean on those days... !*not-ok*! My hat goes off to you, I don't miss doing that at all.

I work with a guy named Jerry! *!greengrin!*

We're a fairly small county customer wise so our stuff isn't quite what it should be since there's never enough money *!rolleyes!*
I can deal with most of it pretty well, depends on the day sometimes. The water stuff we do usually isn't too bad either. Just sucks working a leak live in the winter! !*cheers*!

Have been a Financial accountant for 35 years. How the time goes. Cant supply a pic - the cameras tend to die of boredom before the shutter even activates !*roll-laugh*!

At least it pays the bills. Been thinking of doing something else (no idea what) but when all you have done is all you can do, its a bit difficult...

Some beautiful work Bob; I am always a little envious of those that can point to something physical as a result of their labours. None of that in this field unfortunately...

!*cheers*!

Thanks, but I love my job and have the boss everyone wants. And your right I can look at 50 or 60 or more finished units a week and say "I did that" and then if I want to I can still see it in the cemetery. I don't do that too often though. I used to run laps in our local cemetery after hours until the cops threw me out one night. They asked why I would run in a cemetery. I said cause I made over half of them. Just checking up on my work. I also lived across the street from it. This year was also a good year 2274 units cut. We got 2 raises this year. I got double bonuses as well.

I'm qualified as engineer but my low seniority has me bouncing around a lot on crafts.

Anthony, how good/bad are the work hours as you've come up through the ranks?

I keep waiting and looking for any signals/maintenance jobs in my area for Norfolk Southern.
