train spotting tips?

I too would be interested in some tips for foaming around LAX UT. I have a 7 hour or so lay over next month - am flying into LA and taking the SWC to ABQ for a photo charter on the C&TS. Thought I would hit up Philipes for a soggy beef roll and then see what there was to see. Any info gratefully received...
