What do you think of this station?

Grab a rock, have a seat, and talk about the real world of trains.

What do you think of this station?

I like modern, but I'm not a huge fan of the sports arena look.

At first when I saw the yellow Tyvek I thought "missing texture" :D

Not a bad looking structure. The VIA sign in the render, however, makes it look like a roadside inn.
Cheers!

Modern, but not bad. Be glad your town got a station at all. How many trains are calling daily?

Is it a multi-purpose building? Some shops, cafe's and restaurants to make it more lively and socially secure during off-peak hours?
VIA reduced to a ticket window or ticket vending machine only?

Of course, a well maintained classic station building looks nice when situated in an equally nice neighborhood. Older buildings have their own problems: maintenance, passenger comfort, safety/social security etc. Many classic stations have been converted to other uses if they are on some local monument/architecture preservation list despite the railroad wanting to abandon and raze it.

Ah, but is/was yours the HQ of a railway!?!? The station in Dauphin MB was the Canadian Northerns HQ for all of Canada before the goverment rounded up a bunch of small railroads from the east, Grand Trunk Pacific, and the Canadian Northern (GTP and CN being the biggest of the railways) to form Canadian National (CN was CN before it was CN lol !*roll-laugh*! )

Not sure how many per day but its the end of the line. Windsor is ViA Rail's last station. Windsor is north of Detroit so business is probably greater because of that. No other uses for the building besides a little currency exchange.

Nah, I don't like the sports arena style either. I also noticed the "missing textures" with the Tyvek insulation.

You want to see a nice station? Lots of pics here, just one shot does not do it justice. Los Angeles Union Station! !!*ok*!!

Grand Central Station brings back some great memories of a trip my wife I took on the AMTrak to Washington DC and returned out of the Grand Cental Station. We were in the station near where this shot was taken and it was as empty as this picture shows then rush hour there wasn't an empty spot on that great floor. Then poof it was empty again.
