CSX #5500 "The Spirit of Cincinatti" will be out of service

FRESH OFF THE WIRE: According to Heritageunits.com CSX 5500 The Spirit of Cincinatti, has been shopped in Selkirk, for a 184 day maintenance period. Anyone know what is wrong with her? What kind of problem would warrant that length of time in the shop? Opinions please!

It is just routine maintenance. They have extended ( doubled ) the 92 day FRA blue card inspection on some locomotive's out to 184 days. I think only locomotives with self diagnotsics are allowed that extension.

It's not in maintainance for that long, it's a the period in which they have to fully inspect each locomotive and freight car.

Depending on where it is and if they can catch it. ES44's & SD70ACe's are exempt from the 90 day blue card.
