RIP track? Spot track?

What's a siding or spur used to cut out damaged cars into called? The name is completely escaping me and I can't find anything on Google

I have also heard it called Remain In Place if that helps any.

RIP track stands for Repair In Place. The car department will come out and fix or patch it to get it to the next car shop. Sticking brakes etc.

Thanks for the info guys. Works perfectly for me... a Superfluous piece of track on my route now has a purpose that makes sense (short spur with road vehicle access) and a name too! (Valmead RIP track)

Haha, I'm not a pirate oooo aaaar. And I've only ever "ripped" one track for public distribution but I got permission from the artist on Facebook.

I was going to try to find that out. I'd have thought they just drag the damaged car up to their shop. It's not like shortlines have far to go. The reason I've got a couple of RIP tracks is that the track was there but unused, so I decided to give them a purpose. The one by Thomasville Furniture Industries must've been part of the complex, but I don't know what for exactly.

That would be called a team track, house track, or just a stub ended siding. If a car has just body damage then it can easily be moved as long as it is not beyond what a high and wide detector would see on another railroad. If it has running gear problems, then it would be set out as soon as possible, & someone would have to come and fix it. You don' want to pulla car with sliding wheels for example. Some shortlines are large enough to have their own car departmen. Others are not. They would call Rescar or someone.
