Amtrak has cancelled ALL trains North of Jacksonville, FL and East of Toledo, OH.

don't blame them for doing that, some bad stuff could happen if a train is going 60mph+ and hits a 100+mph sidewind gust which would be possible!

jeez, it is only a Cat 1, we don't work up a sweat over a little one like that. Good water for the garden.

Yes, but it is to an area which receives far less hurricanes then other areas, so it's likely that there are a lot more people that are unprepared.

Amtrak is also pretty sure all the underground is gonna flood. That third rail is an instant short circuit. !*hp*!

Also, in the majority of the Mid-Atlantic and New England, there was a much higher risk of flooding and downed trees resulting in power outages because in the week before Irene we had a couple of very strong storms come though, so when Irene hit, the soil was already saturated. Without the rainfall from Irene, my area would have missed the record rainfall for August by about 1/4 inch.
