Last year's firework display in the growing town of Roanoke, TX. I took a few long exposures of the fireworks while there.

I'm not much a fan of the 4th - used to be though. Many folks here head across the border to pickup sky bombs that will be going off over the next month. I don't mind two or three days of celebration, but 30-days of boom-boom at night gets old (not to mention keeping my cats in a constant state of anxiety). *!rolleyes!*

Nevertheless, enjoy the holiday. May it be a safe one. :D
Cheers!

In New York State along lake Ontario and up in the mountains, so many people were driving on over to Pennsylvania buying fireworks illegally and annoying the heck out of neighbors that it got to a point where the governor left it up to each county to decide if fireworks should be legal or not. The county I am in voted to keep them banned but that didn't stop people from driving half an hour to 2 border counties where they are now legal and blowing their last week's paycheck on a big stockpile. I also have an issue with my big dog being very anxious from all the bangs.

Come on people. We have been shooting off fireworks forever. Deal with it. Enjoy the meaning of this great day and don't start whining about the behavior of others.
