NS AC44C6M 4001 Derailment

NS AC44C6M #4001 derailed leading a coal train today. Before derailment video shot by Nitsujy12345 (Justin Riese)

Glad to say that the crew is reported to only have suffered minor cuts and bumps.

Hit a sun kink in the rails at tracks speed. Crew is all good and 4001 is repairable (Last i heard) but POSSIBLY not in the same paint unknown at this time. (DO NOT spread what i said)

Is that soft mud or bog the locomotive has sunken in?

As long as the frame isn't warped and the hard parts of the cab not damaged too much, the locomotive can be repaired.

I think the frame might have been bent a wee bit. Well. sucks that it happend. but hey, its a tool. and tools can be replaced. but the crew walked out A OK

I think thats a testment to how good these cabs are!

I bet the crew was a bit shaken, but thank God they're okay. It's a shame, but you just gotta think it's just a locomotive. I'm surprised how much is already on the Internet about it, Imagine if or when a heritage unit derails... which is bound to happen.
