When is it a good time to watch golf?

Grab a rock, have a seat, and talk about the real world of trains.

When is it a good time to watch golf?

Answer: Never.

Unless, you are watching at University Place, WA. A double-track mainline runs by the course. The U.S. Open is being played there, and it seems that the trains going by are quite a topic of conversation for the announcers.

Chambers Bay Golf Course.

Used to be a gravel plant with some Baldwin switchers back in the day. Dad runs on the tracks behind the course!

Golf is my falling asleep show, except it's annoying being jolted awake by my mom yell "hole in one" in those rare events.

I'm not a golf fan at all. But I think I might could give it a try if I could watch trains, errr, um, play on THAT course.

The place looks more suited for grazing goats than playing the US Open.

Fox just did a really cool feature segment during a lull in play on the railroad, the industrial history of the location and how the railroads and golf are tied together historically. They even showed an old clip of an SP&S steamer. Very very cool, I'm glad they featured it so prominently. Apparently the official artist for the US Open posters uses vintage railroad posters as inspiration, and this years features a BNSF freight.

Action is starting to heat up. One of the golfers collapsed on the ninth.

Gary Player has launched an astonishing attack on Chambers Bay and described the 155th US Open as "the most unpleasant golf tournament I've seen" in his 63 years as a Professional.
Does that mean he doesn't like it??? !*roll-laugh*!

I watched a little bit of yesterday's play on my computer, but, the camermen are more bothered about the golf than panning round and watching the trains go past, so, I switched off. *!lol!*
