UP Brings Out the SP Beasts

Unread postby Chessie8638 » Tue Mar 29, 2011 2:44 am

Due to a massive winter storm on Donner (I think Truckee got 150+ inches from it) Union Pacific finally brings out the giant SP rotaries to clear the route. They were last needed way back in 1998. They are right out of the Steam Era.

Very nice. Thank you. !!*ok*!!

I recently bought and watched the Donner Pass Video by 7ideaproductions. This made me love the Donner Pass and there were also spreader operations which I found very interesting.

No problem! If you like the spreader operations, check out "Donner Pass Combo" by Pentrex. It comes with "Battle For Donner Pass." Filmed during the winter of 1992-1993 I believe (some say the worst year on Donner) you see the rotaries, and spreaders at work. http://www.pentrex.com/donrdvd.html

We'll worth it. I thought I would get bored there but it is a nicely daily browsing. Get to see and read a lot of stuff that otherwise is hard to find or see.

Jeebus Cripes, that's a lot of snow! Donner could be on track for another record this year, the North West has been getting record amounts of snow this season. I may actually go and ski Mammoth with a friend in April. !*brav*!

Yeah, would be so nice to see a couple of Big Boys, or maybe Cab Forwards, in that lashup instead of diesels. Altho, the Heritage is one of my favorite liveries. We need a rotary in RW. !!*ok*!! Oh, KC! !*salute*!
