Beyer-Garratt 6029 Restored

While here in the US we have C&0 1309, N&W 611, and UP 4018 in the spotlight, the aussies have been busy restoring a mammoth of their own;

I've been following the project for a few years now and I'm honestly surprised how quick this thing got on the rails. Now we wait for the paperwork to be done before she can start hauling excursions.

Awesome stuff. One of the most interesting locomotive designs ever. Was she converted to burn oil? Or just a darn good fireman? (also looked like the whole consist was running backwards)

Didn't recall that they converted 6029. The fire is stoked by a mechanical auger (Similar to that of the Big Boy's) so the fireman gets an easy ride.
The train was indeed running backwards-- some engines of this class were actually equipped with two control stands so it could be driven in either direction. Not sure if 6029 is one of those or not.
