They better not be repainting any of them. We have a battleship parked in Norfolk, we'll take care of those pesky "suits" and their decisions right quick. !!bang!! !*lho*!

They're probably gonna get a wash down, and then they'll fix some minor issues, such as scratches, bad marks, etc.

I think you should start haranguing them about these errors and get them to fix them. !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*!

question for you i know you have access to some ammo for the 16/50s but do you have access to any of the powder charges?
if so i wonder what it would take to get permission to fire off a few....

We only have/ can get the solid 16" shells. Anything with explosives were all destroyed years ago. Not sure about the powder bags, but they would be about 65 to 70 years old by now. !*hp*!

hmm depending on a few things you could probably have new powder bags made but with only solid 16 inch shells it kinda defeats the point of it all dang it

We do have powder cartridges for the 5" guns, but we are FORBIDDEN! by the Navy to fire any projectile, period. Even the "little" 5" can cause serious damage. The 16" is devastating. That 16" solid projectile will go thru 30 FEET of solid concrete. !*hp*!

(sorry, Mike, back on Topic. Umm, what was the topic again? *!!wink!!* )

I know the Lehigh Valley unit was modified to more closely match the LV red scheme, but those modifications took place last year. Anything else you might have heard, may have been from the April Fools Joke that got started last week.

mdurdan wrote:Apparently the Southern and Norfolk Western units have bad paint and just need to be re painted, same design just re done or touched up. This is as far as I've heard and again, this is not a reliable source it is just hear say so...it could be anything..

Mike, Rich has very reliable sources within NS as he is a former employee (if I recall correctly!), I believe that he knows what he is talking about.

I have a few more years to go, before I become a former employee !*roll-laugh*! The only thing I'm aware of is, as each Heritage unit comes in for it's 180 day routine maintenance it's required to have a super wash. Other units just get a carbody wash. Yes 180 days, we got an exemption from the 90 day RM on any locomotive that has either EPIC, CCB2 or CCB26 air brakes. Locomotives with 26L are still required to have 90 day inspections along with 45 day cab signal inspections.

Glad I covered my butt with "if I recall correctly!"
