Nooo not the spartan cab. Doesn't this belong in the Jungle section?

I knew they were putting these Crescent cabs on the spartan cab SD60's, I didn't know they had started on the C40-8.5W project yet. The reason these cabs are being applied is to give the locomotives a safety cab and to provide more room for the PTC equipment. As everyone knows the SD60E locomotives are being numbered in the 6900 number series and I think the C40-8.5W's will be in the 8500 number series. I'm not sure how many of these units will be rebuilt at Roanoke as JBS has been handling most of these rebuilds.

I know the crescent cab has a lot of haters, but I dig it and the SD60E is one of my favorite locos now. Can't wait to see this one finished.

Also I thought all the rebuilds were being done in Altoona, didn't know they were also doing them in Roanoke as well.

I was on vacation the past week, so I'm a little late getting back to you. To answer your question, some info comes from company emails, etc. and other info is from the NS Dash 9 Web site. Chris has a few contacts that work for the railroad, so most of his info is correct. To answer your first question, JBS continues to add to the RP-E4C Road Slug roster along with the SD60E roster. Last week JBS released the Go Rail SD60E, number 6963
