CSX installs inward facing cameras

I find it to be really stupid in my eyes. Imagine if you were stuck at a red signal for 5 hours what would you do? Some engineers I know always bring something to read in case something like that happens.

Seems more like a "C.Y.A." move by the railroad than an out and out invasion of privacy. I presume this video is recorded somehow, not broadcast live? More than likely not gonna be played back unless an accident/ incident happens. That's when the RR wants someone to blame other than themselves (poor track and/or equipment maintenance). So CSX already did this, and KCS is going to court to get approval to do this also?

I remember all to well that Chatsworth collision. Don't think it was ever said that LA Metrolink had installed cameras like this after that accident. But I do remember everyone screaming for PTC.

They do something like this on buses. It can be very useful if anything happens and in many cases has cleared drivers of any wrongdoing.

There needs to be restrictions as to when they can access these cameras (much like the external ones) where only if a serious incident happens, rather than doing it at random to catch people doing things wrong occasionally. When it eventually comes to BNSF, we're going to see stopped trains just so the engineer can go drop deuce.
