I've worked with ALCOs before as a hog. They will buck any EMD, turbo or non-turbo, around in the consist if you don't keep em under control.

Its like when your dog drags you along on a walk and the dog just keeps tugging.

Well I'll say this for the record.........

Set up a standalone loco drag race. Perfectly straight and flat tracks side by side. A GE 4-stroke vs. EMD 2-stroke. Tune or detune the engines to have identical max horsepower output, equal loco weight, equal tractive effort, same amount of axles, equal gear ratios and turn off their speed governors.

Now make the finish line at say the 2 or 3 mile mark. As soon the green light appears, both loco's throttles are instantly slammed into run 8. I'd bet a paycheck that the EMD 2-stroke will cross the finish line first! That's how confident I am in the quick spool up of a 2-stroke!

Limas were really slow, actually. Same for baldwins. But man those westinghouse electronics in Baldwins could take a beating.
