Grab a rock, have a seat, and talk about the real world of trains.

The Grand Canyon R.R. VIP Trip

Unread postby B-24_LIBERATOR » Thu Nov 07, 2013 11:37 am

So since I turned 21 this year, my dad thought it would be cool to do something really neat for my birthday! He gave me a VIP Car! Well didn't really GIVE it to me but I went for a ride in it on the Grand Canyon Railway!

(Keep in mind I scanned my negatives at 600 dpi so the quality is not all that great, the ones with me in them were taken with a digital camera. None of these photos have been edited outside of being cropped)

Started off in Williams AZ.

Yeah that goofy looking guy with the Rollei is me.

El Canyon de Grande Magnifico!

Yes...of the entire canyon, I take a picture of a shrub.

Me and my Dad (I'm not 8 feet tall his wide angle lens just distorts the edges so I look huge)

I like monochrome better.

I wanted to be artsy...

There's that guy again...

Okay, time to go home.

I had one photo left on my last roll, and this is what I used it for. Taken from the balcony on the coach.

Great shots. Took Amtrak to Flagstaff, then to the canyon several years ago. Had the steamer running then.
Did you take the hiking path to the bottom of the canyon? Easy going down, not so going back up. !*hp*!

Awesome trip.
You look about 13 in the pics but I guess that's because of the resolution...

In addition to nice memories about your 21st and about trains, these will be nice memories about time spent with your dad.
Some day memories will be all you have, and believe me this day comes all too soon.

Glad you guys like the pics!

We were only at the canyon Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, didn't have enough time to walk all the way down the canyon.

Everyone always thinks I look a lot younger than I am, it's not just the camera.

I think I have a picture of that same shrub somewhere, Brian. That looks like a lot of fun. I've driven to the Rim on the Arizona side many a time, but have yet to take the rails. !!*ok*!! !*salute*!

You look like you are gonna be carded for awhile. *!greengrin!*

This Chinese guy I know is 21, but looks 15. He gets carded all the time. Doesn't mind it at all except only in one instance..... when he's carded at the movie theater. Then he goes into meltdown. !*roll-laugh*!
