"Summer time and the - - " Oh! sorry a new upgrade

Unread postby KCJones » Sat Dec 03, 2011 3:52 pm

The MP15DC set is now upgraded. Particularly inspired by the Donner Pass I have included snow features.

As usual If you have lost your password and link, or your link no longer works, send me an email. If you are in my record I will send you the new one.

Yes I WILL get back to my rolling stock packs but I MUST experiment with a working Russell snowplow. I think it will have to masquerade as an engine though as I can't get the animations to work on the car. (Only emitters, snow and smoke, appear to respond to the lua file )

Dick.

Which other anims does it have, Dick? I don't think I've got a wagon with animations to play with.

I want to have the wings and the flanger underneath animated, but so far not much fun. And they need to work from the driven engine.

Its excites me very much. I can't wait to download!

I hope you can figure out the animation on the plow.

Hm. So you want them controlled by some cab control in the engine you're driving?

The anims will probably work using the AddTime method, and you'll have to send consist messages to actually move the animations. If you can remember my email address feel free to ask for help :)

While you are building up a script, please consider adding a load variation. Putting the wing(s) out or the flanger down would add a lot of load. And, a real plow (plough) would have more or less resistance based on how dense the snow is, and whether or not it was icy. If possible, you could increase or lessen the snow plume based on the imaginary load as a signal to the engineer that things are changing. The original is based on a boxcar, and I have been recommending that the folks load the plow (plough) to give it a bit more resistance.

By the by, and signifying nothing, I've noticed that there are a 100+ downloads of the SP repaint.

Haha, ouch. If only you could put the brakes on just the plough... otherwise yeah, that's... massively complicated. Perhaps it might be best to make it an engine and use the d-brake for that.

One thing at once!!!! !*hp*!

I have got the wings to go out at the push of a button (M) but they flick out most unrealisticly. I am now working on getting the animation to work slowly. Oh yes and now the snow melts away for the summer!!

I have thought of making the plough (plow) an engine, then you could sit in the cupola. I will have to model the interior though!!!! One rivet, two rivets, three rivets one cross head screw!!! Hey how did that get in there?? We only use authentic fixings, fittings and fixtures here.

!*YAAA*!

Well you can use the passenger view anyway... if you had a cab in the plough you could control the actual plough bits from it with levers and knobs and things, though. Although I did think someone mentioned interaction in passenger view once.

If you get stuck with the scripting you know where I am :)

Hi guys
Don't know if it will help but have a look at the freeware UK mail cars with opening doors and carts that roll out. Maybe those animations could help
