USRA 2-8-8-2 RW3 problems

Unread postby MontanaRails » Wed Sep 28, 2011 6:22 pm

I'm aware that Dick is working on patching the locomotives...but just curious if theres a way to easily fix three problems (RW3, TSX enabled):

1. I dont have any sound except for the whistle. No engine sounds or chuffing.
2. The couplers are white
3. The smoke disappears once the loco starts moving. When its stationary, its re-appears.

Hi thanks for the feedback. I will add it to the list of problems. !*hp*!

At te moment I am struggling with the GG1, getting the cab signal repeater to work and one or two other little glitches. It has got working headlight beams now though so I am getting there. Wherever that is. !*YAAA*!

I was able to fix the locomotive. I think it was my own fault it wasnt working - some of the sound and effects were aliased to the Black 5 (as per you) and the Challenger add-on (per me). I did not enable the IHH addons in the scenario, so I think thats why they werent showing up.

I also fixed the coupler issue by aliasing to the default coupler (had to move them slightly to be in correct alignment).

I also added a headlight.

Its working great now!

One question I do have; with 60 loaded coal cars, I'm getting a wheelslip notification with the train stopped and 0 regulator. I also get it intermittently from about 20mph and faster regardless of the regulator setting. I noticed when this happens, the forward pilot wheels and aft wheels spin rapidly, but the driving wheels do not. Does adhesion/TE need to be raised or is something else going on?

Hi

Actually I've been getting exactly the same problems with the Light Mikado and the Prairie - i.e. No sound except whistle and bell, and only smoke from the stack with the loco is stationary. I know Dick's been working on patches so I'm happy to wait.

Just on a bright note though, I had been struggling to get the Prairie to run at all, and it always gave me a SBHH. This seemed strange because everything else I own by Dick installed/works just fine. A week or so ago I wanted the PRR set, so I ordered it and it installed fine. Encouraged, last night I ordered the Light Mikado, which also installed and works just fine. Just out of curiosity I tried the Prairie again and it works just fine as well. Something seems to have cured it!!! !!*ok*!! !*cheers*!

Very happy Ken
