FT Short B units will not couple...

to each other. I am trying to make an A-B-B-A FT locomotive set like the Northern Pacific (6001A,B,C,D) used. I can get the drawbars to work between the A and short B units with no issues. The short B will couple to anything I back it into EXCEPT the rear or front of the other short B unit. a I can get an A-B-A-B setup to work and so on. I suspect that the bellows are touching, reading as a collision before the couplers do. Problem is, of course that's off into the dark arts for me. Does anyone have any suggestions? I could release the repaints as 6001A,B and 6001D,C but I'd like to get them working properly. The boiler B unit doesn't have the issue, but isn't correct for the job.

Believing in the cut and try system, I shortened the collision length by 3 feet. Once I did that, the B units would couple. However there was an issue with the carbodies being telescoped into each other by about 4-5 feet. I then changed the front coupler x-axis from 6.3000 to 6.5500, and changed the collision length back to the default. The short B units now couple to each other perfectly, and the carbody spacing is good all the way down the set.

The FT was the first model I did for Rail Sim (as it was). I was following the principal of getting people to get into the sim to work out things for them selves as we did with MSTS. Provide the shape, which is for most the more difficult part, and leave the end user to improve on the more easily editable files. Hence the "kit" format.

It is a model I aim to revisit though. When I eventually get there it will be a free upgrade to those who are on my records as having purchased it.

It's a great model, only needs the nose fined up a bit. Once you start revisiting, could you give us an E8/9? It should be a simple upgrade from the E7.
