				USRA Steam Derail on Turntable

I have a strange problem when backing a Britkits USRA (any) steam off a turntable. The TT is the one used in Portland Terminal. The loco will go on the TT forward no problem and off forward no problem. But try to go off in reverse and it will derail on certain tracks every time. I tried at least another dozen steam of both US and UK heritage but cannot duplicate the problem. So I assume it is some interaction between the TT and Britkits loco. I also tried the little 2-4-2 Vulcan it derails also.
I need help please.

Thanks for the effort . . . Note it does not do it on all tracks so try a few tracks . . . I was using USRA lIght Mikado gut Light Pacific also does it.
Further Update: Tried the little SW1200 it derails, tries the Payware SW1500 no problem !!! I cannot understand why only Britkits are doing it.

I have confirmed your problem on my first try. Testing the Britkits Default x-SW1200 it does indeed derail when backing off the Portland Terminal Rigby Yard turntable onto some tracks, but not others. A freeware repaint of this model derailed identically. I also tested the [Basic] Britkits GP9, both the Default and a freeware repaint; it also derailed on the same tracks as the 1200. I see no visible difference between the tracks that work and those that derail. Testing the PT RY turntable with other locomotives such as GP40 and ES4400 produced no problems.
Weird problem.

Thanks for putting in the effort, I am glad I am not just imagining a problem, or worse still creating a problem somehow.
I am not sure where we go now to get a fix as both the turntable and engines are payware.
Hopefully I will contact Britkits to see if anyone else has reported anything.

				This is odd

I wonder if any other models made with 3D Canvas do the same?

				Dick,
If you can tell me any other source for locomotives done in Blender (and if I have them) I am happy to test them, and let you know.
It is definitely a strange problem, I cannot imagine what would cause it, and therefore I assume there is no way for you to easily fix the problem?.
Tori also tested several engines to help me confirm the problem, he may also have a blender origin engine or two.

The SW-1500 has a fit in the IIR route if you try to back it off of the turntable on certain tracks too (the Railworks 1500)

I am persisiting with diagnosis of the problem but am now just making it more confusing.
I tried a number of Britkits engines on another turntable (US 32 Exit Turtntable) without ANY problems. Now I am not sure what product has the problem ???
I tested the Payware SW1500 on several TT without any problem during the earlier diagnosis tests. Sigh !

You need to remember that are two RailWorks SW1500. The first was with Project Platform. The second is the one we all know and love.

Sorry I did not know about the project platform version, I was referring to the latest Payware version obtained form Steam which has had no trouble and it a great model too !

The creator of the Portland Terminal route discovered a glitch in this turntable after the route had been released. Specifically, any engine derailed exiting the TT onto a particular track. He tried rotating the TT, but that just shifted the derailing track to a different position. I helped him with some testing, but as of late May I don't think a solution had been found. In other words, the current "fix" is: don't use that track!
